VISION FOR THE NEW YEAR

2011

Emphasis this year is on outreach and raising the profile of the church within the community.  We aim to do this by two means (a) equipping the saints and (b) special events that involve the community.

(a)  Equipping the saints.  The church is a family and we feel that there need to be more events that we participate in corporately.  Chris [Elder] had a word from God taken from Nehemiah 2:18.  Here Nehemiah receives the word from God to begin building and without any further procrastination he turns to the people and says, “Let us start to build”.  Each one of us needs to take the responsibility for church growth and begin to build.

(b) Community. The church is here to reach the community and to shine as a light of truth within it.  Some of the events planned coincide with times when people think about church and attending it. For example Easter and Christmas.  It is our intention to put on events that will draw people in to hear the Gospel. In addition we also have the Teen Challenge bus as a continual form of outreach on the streets.

There are to be bi-monthly times of prayer and fasting.  We envisage fasting Sunday lunch on these days and spending the afternoon at church praying, seeking God and hearing from God until the evening service.

We also plan to have a Worship Workshop which will include teaching on praise and worship and practical sessions. This is not just for musicians and members of the worship group but for the whole church as we feel that worship is an integral part of church life and is essential is obtaining church growth.

There is to be a one day Conference, the theme of which has not yet been decided. We are spreading our wings a little this year and plan to take on local hotel facilities for the day and to invite a guest speaker along with our own leadership. Date and Venue to be arranged. The dates below reflects the emphasis placed on these two particular areas.
